Violet’s Story

Site created on November 13, 2021

This is the story about a little girl that wasn't expected to stay on Earth for very long. But she chose to stay despite the very special heart she was given and was supposed to be the reason for her short visit to Earth once she was born. This is the story of resilience, determination and strength of a soul that chose to stay and be a shining light of love and hope during a time of chaos and doubt. Her name is Violet.

Journal entry by Weronika Szanczuk

It's been just over 3 months since Violet's surgery and holy shit we've been busy! In a good way, of course. You'd think I would have more time to write in this journal and update everyone on the growing miracle that is Ultra Violet. Believe me when I tell you, that is absolutely what I want to do... but I haven't and I apologize.

However, let me reassure you that I have two journal entries in the works that are taking me forever to complete because typing on a phone sucks. I much prefer the ancient method of handwriting with a pen on paper. Typing takes me hours especially because Im constantly editing. With all that said, the journal entries that I have begun to write take you to the beginning of our journey with Violet, the day I had my prenatal screening ultrasound when I was about 18 weeks pregnant, and Violet's first heart surgery in January 2021.... stay tuned!

And since this journal is about Violet, let me tell you, that even though the art of handwriting might be a dying skill thanks to technology, Violet has been holding a pen/pencil/marker/crayon like a pro from the second she held one in her hand for the first time, when she was not even a year old! It was so natural to her. She immediately started to draw on every and any paper and page in every sketchbook and notebook that was available to her. Fast forward a year to present day and this almost-22 month old can write all the letters in her first name! No word of a lie! People have witnessed this!
