Newest Update

Journal entry by Selina Culbertson

Hey everyone! Please forgive me for not posting any updates for so long. Last cycle was very long and slightly difficult. I used our 4 day break at home to soak up having my entire family together again. So let me catch you up to now!
We started Aiden's second round on September 27th. The round went fairly smooth. We did have one pretty yuck day. Aiden, very quickly, spiked a fever of over 104 and reacted with a seizure. We did multiple tests to confirm it was just a fever related seizure and all tests came back just fine. By 3:00pm that day, Aiden was fever free, back to our smiley boy, and even snacked on his very first Rice Krispy treat! Aiden did take a bit longer than expected for all of his counts to recover but it did happen! We got to bring our happy boy home October 31 and enjoyed him for 4 full days!
We returned to Riley this past Monday, November 5th to have an EKG, Echo, and meet with his doctor's in clinic. All tests came back great! Aiden danced his cares away to Baby Shark the entire Echo! In clinic we were able to get the plan for this round and find out the results from Aiden's last spinal tap. And, drum roll please.....
AIDEN IS OFFICIALLY IN REMISSION AND CANCER FREE!!!
This is great news!! This means the chemo and our plan is working and his body is responding the way we want it to! I have had many people ask me what do these results mean for his future plan. Well, the plan doesn't really change. He will do this 28 day round of chemo just like the other two rounds. Transplant is still in the talks to happen after.
We have had so many people reaching out and helping and supporting our family. I wish I could sit and name each of you specifically and thank each and every one of you but the list is just too long! So I would like to take a second to stretch a HUGE "THANK YOU!!!" from the bottoms of our hearts for absolutely everything each one of you have done for our family. Our support group is so incredibly large and has definitely opened our eyes to see just how blessed we really are for having each of you in our lives. Again, thank you thank you thank you!

This evening starts Day 2 for this round of chemo. Chemo will be every 12 hours for 5 days and then waiting for count recovery. I will try my hardest to update again as soon as I can!
