Journal entry by jeff schmitz

I had a longer post started for today, but Finley interrupted that process because I had promised her a special day today, and she's excited and going through some pretty unique four-year old emotions.

Finley: I want to give mommy a hug.
Me: Me too, baby.
Finley: Is mommy in heaven with Jesus?
Me: Yes, baby.
Finley: How do we get there? Do we take the car, or do we walk?
Me: We wait, baby.

There was a long hug after that. Mostly for me, not for her.

We're waiting, we're hurting, we're healing, and we're hoping today that the promises I preach about the realities of Jesus will one day make all of this be untrue.

Two years today.

The plan is to visit mommy's special bench at the cemetery after lunch and leave some flowers and some drawings. Then we're going to the beach with the slide, because that's Finley's other obsession this summer.

Keep praying.

Thank you.
