Our ride home was full of smiles , cheerful children voices, grateful hearts. Sully doesn't quite understand the big deal, just REALLY happy to be home. I wasn't quite prepared for the sutures on Sully head, larger than I thought and there are two areas, not one. His voice is weak (but beautiful to hear), told him how proud I am of him for the strength he showed us . He wanted to know how? I explained how it took great strength from inside you to keep fighting to wake up and start breathing on your own again; so you could come home. He smiled and said, "well, yeh"! The therapies will start soon and hopefully we can get him walking and running again like he did before. He is having difficulty flexing at the ankles and in the feet joints for some reason. PT will help this. For now , as he explains, I can walk, but I can't run right now Grandma, but I will. Gotta love the spirit of a child.
We all just had our first breakfast together as a family at his Mom's house and his cousin Landon asked to be with him today as well. I am forever grateful for the love and gifts and kindness from family, friends, and all. A special thank you to his daycare "Wonder Years", for their support and love. I got to tuck this guy into his crisp clean green sheets (green's his favorite color) and it felt so good. Prayers were said and lights went out. Finishing a day with, "thank you Lord, as we looked down at our children, heads laid on their pillows , we were all at peace again, together.
