Chuck & Sue’s Story

Site created on August 17, 2019

Setting this site up, I can't just call it “Sue Coventon.” I think you know why. “Chuck AND Sue” have always gone together. They've always been a “two-as-one” model of a loving and devoted marriage and ministry partnership. We all care for BOTH Chuck and Sue!

We starting this site now, as mom is getting closer to her move to heaven. Here we can all share and collect your thoughts, photos and stories about Sue. It won’t be long now before we can all gather to celebrate her remarkable life.

If you have found us here, you have probably been a part of our journey with Alzheimer's already. And you've been so caring! In fact, every professional caregiver who has served mom has said, "I've never had a patient with such a support system." For instance, in 2016 Robin Kraning organized dinner deliveries; often more than one each week. At the end of the year, we counted up 70 families who had brought a meal (or more) over the year!

This says quite a bit about what kind of people mom and dad are. But it also says a lot about the character and goodness of the people who have become their friends. You.

As their biological children, Kevin and I may share their DNA. But we believe that because of mom (and dad’s) love for others, we have the largest extended family of anyone we know! Thank you, thank you, so very much for your loving support for us along the way.

Journal entry by Kimberly Creasman

People came in their Dodgers and Angels gear. And the UCLA and Hawaiian theme was pretty popular too. There wasn't much left of the 5 giant Costco cakes! It was truly a celebration of how she lived her life loving people well, and pointing others to Jesus.

In the gallery (see link above), photos show who spoke and came. Below is the text of some of what was shared. Frankly, I think it was the best ever. The Friends Church staff and tech crew were great, the sharing was a variety of touching, interesting, and even funny. Kent Kraning gave a message that was really a "home run!" using text from the Bible and showing up on the screens an image of mom's notes on that passage in her Bible.

The link above is to the video of the service. It is saved on the Friends Church's Vimeo page. It can only be accessed via this private link with any web browser. This link can be shared freely - anyone with the link can access the video.  Below the video image will be a "download button." Anyone can also save a copy of the video. This link will remain active for viewing and download until December 31, 2019.

The photos below are what the program looked like.
