Dear Ellen, I am continuing to pray for Steve to get well soon. Some words of encouragement. My friend, the CEO of Stanford Hospital had a bike ride accident & head injury, had surgery and was in a coma, and he is back in full swing now and he is a very effective leader at Stanford Hospital. I, myself, 72 now, had a nasty fall, my head hit the concrete and had a head injury and concussion. It has been 3 years now, I am back to full swing cognitively and I am a self-represented litigant and I write briefs in constitutional law, anti trust, patent law, etc. and opposing Senior counsel at Skadden told me they are very impressed with my work. I still have balance problems while walking, speech problems, which get better if I sing, Dr. Ghajar, the neurosurgeon at Stanford wants me to exercise daily for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, on the exercise bike and walk, so the blood goes to the brain. When I don't do this, I regress. I still go for physical therapy, vision therapy, speech therapy, car therapy on a simulated car ( now I drive the car), going into the 4th year now. I want Steve to get well and function again. He told me and my team he never wanted to retire. I remember you telling me Steve is direct but very honest. An honest lawyer is hard to come by. Steve has so many good qualities. Having a concussion is not easy. Keep the faith. Love, Lakshmi
Quite a while ago, when we were much younger, a group of us went canoeing on the Guadalupe. The river was running extremely fast, and serval canoes tipped over while shooting through some Rapids. Steve, as strong as he was, was caught in a whirlpool at the base of the rapids, and wasn’t able to extricate himself. We all formed a human chain from the riverbank out to Steve, until we were able to reach him & pull him to us, and safety. This feels like that. We are sending a human chain of caring, prayers & love out to Steve, wanting to reach him again, and free him - to pull him to safety.
So glad to hear good news! I know that the strength and positivity he gets from all of you is helping his recovery stay on track. We are continuing the flow of good wishes!
