Steve’s Story

Site created on June 29, 2021

Dear family and friends,

Steve Good is a missionary serving in Africa. He and his wife Rachel live in Mongu, Zambia. Both Steve and Rachel contracted the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the middle of June, 2021. Rachel had mild symptoms, but Steve needed to be airlifted to  Nairobi, Kenya where he recovered after four weeks in the hospital.

The Goods returned to Indiana after recovering in Kenya. They hoped to return to Zambia in early 2022. However, Steve now has uveitis in both eyes and they are staying close to the excellent medical care in the area before returning.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Rachel Good

Steve has been making steady progress since the last post. He says he has fifty percent less pain, he has stopped wearing the brace and is reducing his medications. He walks outside twice a day but needs to be careful not to overdo it. Hope for a more normal future has returned. We are so thankful!

The anti-fungal meds don't seem to have many side-effects for which we are most grateful. He will be on them at least six more weeks. The doctors are encouraging and we check in with them once a month or so.

Ps. 59:16-17 "But as for me, I will sing about your power. I will shout with joy each morning because of your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety in the day of distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love."
