Steve’s Story

Site created on October 9, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement.  Please forgive us if we are not always responsive to calls and texts, your support means the world to us, it is difficult for us to always respond to everyone.  Here is what has happened at the time we have started this page.

Last week, Steve started not feeling well.  On Sunday (10 /4) Steve started experiencing numbness and weakness in his left hand.  He went to his primary Doctor on Monday.  They thought it may have been a pinched nerve, to be cautious and rule out other possible options they ordered and MRI which was done on Wednesday (10/7) at 1pm PST.  During the MRI, they realized there was an issue immediately and sent him to his doctor's office for results right them.

Steve and Tina both went to the doctor's office, and his doctor said that it was big, and not good.  There is a mass in his brain with a 5 cm solid mass surrounded by 3cm of liquid = 8 cm mass.  Steve asked if it was the size of a golf ball and the doctor said, no more like the size of a peach.  The doctor sent them strait to the ER.

Steve went to Eisenhower  and was admitted and subjected to several more tests.  He is currently on steroids as an anti-inflammatory to reduce the pressure on his brain and anti-seizure meds.  There are a few places inside the bone of his spine, and the tumor in his brain.  The choices that has been presented so far by one of the doctors are going to be either; a biopsy of the spine bone to test and see what kind of cancer it is, and set a treatment plan or to remove the mass from his brain, or an additional option?  We are still awaiting the neurosurgeon to get his formal recommendations,  we are hoping this will happen today.  There is also the possibility of going to a different more specialized hospital for these options or other ones and we are currently looking at UCI.

Steve is still in Eisenhower (and COVID means no visitors/support).  It is currently a waiting game .

This has been the latest as of 10/9 at 10am.  For further updates, please read the Journal entries.  Thank you for your prayers and walking this journey with us, we know and trust that our God is in control.
