Newest Update

Journal entry by Steven Goodwin

Good evening all!  It’s been a while since I posted so I figured I would give an update.  It’s Halloween and the kids have gone, so I had some time.

We went in a little 3 day getaway last weekend.  It was just the family, and we ended up at Clearwater beach.  We had an amazing time.  It was a lot of relaxing.  Carissa made a huge vat of sangria for the weekend and it was really good.  I had my compression socks on by the pool and at the beach and it is really hard to be fashionable with sandals and knee high compression socks.  This is something Jeannie usually frowns upon, but under the circumstances, it’s not like I have a choice. The beach was beautiful and the weather was great.  We did a whole lot of nothing.  We made our own charcuterie boards.  You can see them in the photo’s I have attached from the weekend.   We even had a guy walk by and ask us where we naught them and that they looked awesome and he wanted one.   It was such an amazing weekend and I think we all needed it.  Now for an update on my health.

I’ve been going to the oncologist weekly and getting labs done weekly as well.  My last update had my white blood cell count at 230,000.  Well my latest labs have my count at 100,000.  My oncologist was quite pleased with how my body has  reacted to the new medication.  So glad that he moved my appointments to be monthly.  I will still have to get my labs done but at least I don’t have to go see him as often as I was.   I am still anemic, so my energy levels are not where I would like them to be, but not much I can do about that. I’ve developed this really weird lump on my stomach, but the doctor said he wasn’t worried about it and that we would just watch it.  If it gets any bigger I am supposed to tell him.  Based on my labs, all of my organs are still good.  No issues with my liver, kidneys or spleen, so that is good too.  Overall, good progress, but we have a long road ahead of us.  I would like to thank Jeannie and the kids for being there for me, caring for me and pushing me in a wheelchair through Disney.  I couldn’t make it through this without them.  Also, thank you all for your support, thoughts and prayers.  I will continue to need your support getting through this.

I hope each and everyone one of you have a great week.  As always if you feel the need to share my blog with anyone or my gofundme, the links are below.    Have a blessed week.
