Steve’s Story

Site created on August 3, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support, prayers, and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In 2019, Steve was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. In 2020, he had a collapsed right lung. After many procedures, it was determined that he has a trapped lung that won't inflate 100%. He was referred to Ochsner New Orleans for a lung transplant evaluation. In April 2021 right before he was put on the transplant list, the program was suspended. He was referred to one of the following programs: Dallas, Houston, or UAB in Alabama. We chose Houston as it is closest to where we live. Steve was placed on the transplant list in January 2022.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
And what a great New Year it is-Thanks to our Great Physician and many prayer warriors!!!  Steve is doing amazing!  He no longer has ulcers on his tongue and appears to have no ulcers down his esophagus.  The stent has been removed, the hole has healed, he is eating well, gaining weight, the feeding tube has been removed and he has gained strength and energy.  We take so much for granted in life.  This does make us appreciate the small things.  Steve was able to drive on January 4th for the first time since August and then was able to drink a cup of coffee for the first time since then as well.  He was able to take a shower instead of a sponge bath for the first time on January 3rd.  He is so thankful and grateful and is amazed at the improvement that he can feel when he thought it would take longer to get the strength and energy back.  Thank you for all of the prayers, calls, texts, encouragement and support in many ways!!! We love you all!! ♥️
