Good to hear that the overall prognosis is positive! It sounds like you are doing okay, despite still having to take the Revlimid. I guess the one 'good' thing about having an immuno-depressed system during a pandemic surge is that we're ALL in quarantine at this point, so maybe you don't feel quite so left out? All the cool kids are doing it! Anyway, I hope that you are feeling well, and that progress continues!

I remember my PET scans very well, although my doctor was smart enough not to tell me not to think. Maybe he had talked with me enough to understand that would be a bad idea... I ended up asking for the video imagery of the PET scan and got something cool enough that I made a tiny video out of it. I've since lost track of the file, sadly. I bet you could get your images if you really wanted. :)

I am not sure whether to say congratulations or condolences about the news. I guess you have recovered remarkably well, but you are not perfect. Sorry to hear about the lack of perfection, though it is hard to believe after reading this latest post. When you wrote about your preparation for the PET scan, you made me laugh. Doctors, with the best intentions, telling you not to think, while they ditch you in a dark room with nothing to think about except will this new test confirm my life is about to blow up or can I resume a somewhat normal life. Absurd. Even telling you not to think makes one think. Hysterically absurd. So, maybe you are not perfect, but you are damn good my friend.

Steve, that radioactive blood flow to the brain stopped off beforehand, meditated for three days, did its thing and your brain didn't notice it all. I agree with Mr. Sauer's comment, you have a future in medical journalism.
I had an MRI not long ago. I turned the racket into a Brahms symphony and enjoyed everything about it--except the strings needed a microphone adjustment.

My God, Steve! You should really be an author of {insert medical condition here} for Dummies books. Not only was it very comprehensible and well-styled (in the Strunk and White sense of the word), it had a gripping narrative arc. I am, however, surprised you did not mention that positrons are the antimatter flavor of electrons; very Star Trek. I am sorry that you did not completely ace the test (which must be an unusual experience for you) but super glad that you are still outperforming the other high performers and hope that continues to be the case. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

I am involved with the transition of an online discussion forum from an organization that will drop sponsorship of it and will shut it down. There are reasons to use different tech for the new forum than what the old one is based on. The org that is bowing out is giving the new org that I'm part of, a dump of the old posts. I felt that importing them into the new software was problematic because of the uncertainty of reverse engineering and lack of good documentation and support for importing data. So I made a web site to publish the old posts. I made it out of Javascript and no frameworks and almost no libraries. It uses the same DBMS as the new forum software. I did use a library for parsing Markdown. The site is at https://votingtheory.org/

PET scans are often mentioned as having been used in studies of how the brain works.
