I shall weigh in now, Steven. Didn't even finish reading the post (will go back to that when I finish this). The most helpful advice I was given (remember I tripped over the big C?): THIS IS YOUR NEW FULL TIME JOB. Healing in all ways is your new job. It helped enormously to be given permission to take care of all the minute details of recovering from major, traumatic surgery, adjusting to a myriad of medications, caring for your new and improved (sigh) body, searching for equanimity, receiving love. This is your new full time job. You have excellent job skills. You're going to be really, really good at this. Ok. Sermon over. Back to music and jokes. xoxo m p.s. the brain cells DO return. Eventually!
Looking great - that is one happy shopper in Aisle 3! So glad to hear that you're heading home. Now just LET YOURSELF REST. I'm not seeing any font controls, here so you'll have to use your imagination. And LET YOURSELF RECOVER. Maybe subliminal messages will work (REST) and give this post a musical (AWKWARD REST) feel.
Lovely to see this update. Lots of wishes for our very warm person from the whole team here at Google! We are following this closely and here are some email exchanges from the team.
Ruth: Great update on Steven's caringbridge site -- he is going to be discharged!
Steven Yang: Thanks Ruth for letting us know the encouraging news about Steve.
Rahul: Great update!! I am hoping for a speedy recovery at home.
Vignesh: Thanks Ruth! Glad to see Steven's huge smile
Kamala: Warm smile from a warm person. Thank you Ruth. Fingers crossed we see that smile here pretty soon!
Oooh, what Gwendolyne said. Or, you've just been performing a very long movement in a John Cage symphony ... it's music of a sort you didn't expect. Hoping the harmony of home will bring even more healing.
Congrats on your upcoming release from captivity! Just remember, the silences and pauses in music are just as important (if not sometimes more so) than all the notes being played --- enjoy and bask in your rests as you heal.
It will probably be a challenge encouraging Steve to not overdo it when he gets home, I suspect... so "Steve, just because you're not being watched by all those medical professionals doesn't mean you can get carried away - or you'll get carried away !" ... take it easy, my friend, and congratulations on your wonderful progress. Thinking of you often.
