Today

Thank you for the continued prayers and support!

Today I was excited to tackle some yard work, but I’m so ridiculously out of shape that I tweaked my back by simply bending over. The Lord seems to be helping me worry about today rather than tomorrow. I’m hoping the extra strength Tylenol will help me get off this couch.

“I am teaching you today—yes, you— so you will trust in the Lord.” Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I don’t want to miss anything the Lord might have for me today. I’ll journal because um, here I sit. I went on a road trip to Colorado last week to visit family and friends. I enjoyed my sister’s hospitality and visited some dear friends. The drive gave me some time to listen to some wonderful books and test my ability to travel.  On the way home I found a remote cabin outside of Grand Junction and enjoyed some DAWG (day alone with God) days. Long overdue and well worth the effort. The world is so noisy. I want to be taught today and everyday and it’s challenging when I’m smothered in media. It feels similar to using way too much of an unidentified hot sauce. Difficult to dilute the burn, if ya know what I mean. The Lord has so much for us today and all we have to do is sit at his feet. Today in the my one year Bible reading plan I read about the woman that washed Jesus’ feet with her hair and expensive perfume. The disciples were distracted with the business of life. The read seems awkward at first glance and then Jesus uses the opportunity to teach us the most important lesson of today. Place Jesus first!

My road trip did clarify that my traveling will be very limited, at least for now. I appreciate Billy Grahams book. “Nearing Home: Life, Faith, and Finishing well.” I came away with the idea of focusing on what you can do, rather than what you can’t do.

I enjoyed the pre-nap they recommended in prep for a PET scan on Monday and then assumed the toothpaste position in the tube. The stuff they squirt into your blood to highlight your insides, throws me for a bit of a loop, or should I say poop? The results, from what I can cipher, are no change. And, from what I understand, that is both good and bad news. I’ll choose to focus on the good. Only God knows. Thursday, I will get another infusion and discuss the next steps with my oncologist. I’m getting pretty bored with the whole fatigue thing so I’ll probably ask if we can take the summer off. After all even in the school of life, there’s breaks.

In all of it. Today is a good day to learn.
