Thanks so much, Jodie, for sharing this update. While these life passages are challenging and heart-rending, they give us the opportunity to experience the love and generosity of our community that we might not otherwise get to see. Steve has had such a broad reach and positive impact on so many lives; I'm sure you are surrounded by the sustaining spirit of all who know him. Love to all,
Marilyn & family

Remembering a Cooper Spur race where we traveled somewhere. Of course we had to be at the hill very early in the morning, but Steve, you wanted to make sure our kids had the edge. So there was a pre-race warm up, jogging around the complex, stretching and of course, hydration! I’m sure our athletes ruled that day. Didn’t they always? And, we didn’t have to worry about any monkey business that night because they were all ready for bed! What a great strategy and the influence that has carried on!! Thanks a million for instilling excellent life building blocks!

Hi Steve and family - thanks for the update Jodi. We’re down in La Ventana waiting out Hurricane Raymond which has brought wind and rain - almost unheard of at this time of year. A few hardy foilers are out in onshore and gusty conditions but mostly people are trying to divert water runoff. We think of you daily, Steve, and a group of Hood Riverites hoisted margaritas in your honor the other night. I’m glad you are comfortable and surrounded by family and other loved ones. It’s good to know that Avery will adjust your bed height ... whether you need it or not! We weren’t super close but being in Hood river together for 32 years creates a bond, not to mention renting your cabin in 1989 for a month, riding Rowena Crest as you shared tips for dealing with Crohns, our families sharing dinner at your rental in Sayulita, and having Friday Lunch Club with you and a fine group of guys. Sayulita - my daughter was very young then, and we were riding horses on the beach, when I noticed a guy walking up the beach away from us, with a surfboard under his arm, and for some reason I just knew it was you. That image - you from behind, board shorts and no shirt, walking along the beach with a surfboard at the end of a beautiful day as the pelicans skim the wave tops - is forever etched in my mind. Peace out Steve.
