Steve ,
It has been honor and pleasure to get to know you over the last few years. You are one of the kindest people I have ever met. Wether on the water, in Big Winds or chilling with you on a surf trip, I always came away from my time with you feeling happy and inspired. All of my love goes to you my friend, Mahalo.

Jodie, Thank you so much. It is so appreciated to stay up to date on your dad! Steve, we still remember vividly you coming into town in the mid-80’s and, from the get go, you ran such a good operation with a great crew that became the gathering place for all windsurfers in Hood River. That was the beginning of so many fun memories that you can take credit for. And those fun memories never stopped. You were always the Eveready Bunny moving forward with your family and your business. Besides being such a great guy I always admired the way you built Big Winds and were such a leader in the boardsports industry. Ann always found you so inspirational in community causes and local politics. We’re keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers right now. Ann & Pat

Steve,
Ever since we worked together in the windsurfing business in the 80's, I tried to come by the shop for a chat when I visited HR. I'm going to miss seeing you there in the future, but know your spirit will live on, not only in the shop, but all over the town. I'm glad to be one of the many, many people who call you 'friend'. You touched the world and made it a better place, thanks for your friendship.....Greg

Just today I was remembering a wonderful paddle with you around Chicken Charlie Island in the 6 man boats. It was a beautiful early summer morning with calm winds. We were all happily paddling hard together. You were in seat 3 calling us to paddle just a little harder. We all dug a little deeper and pulled the boat together. I feel so fortunate to have that memory, that feeling. It is one of many that I will cherish always when I think of you Steve. You and your family are in our hearts. Love you, Kass

You are, and always have been, a true inspiration, teacher/coach, and role model for me and many. You will always be with us, on the mountain, river, ocean and just around town ! Rest easy. Goodbye for now my friend. All my love, Bernie

Steve,
Thank you for your friendship, your silent guidance and teaching. I Keep thinking back a couple of years ago when I was board caddying for the paddle challenge. I have such a vivid memory of just hanging out with you while they raced. Melissa and I also so fondly remember turning to us and saying " I love your boat" one day when out in Maluhia. Maluhia will always carry your spirit, gliding or surfing on the river. Rest now, friend, for I am certain that you will find the perfect wave ready for you to paddle out to on the other side. Love Andrew
