Steve’s Story

Site created on November 6, 2018

Hi, we are glad you're here! This information is written through the perspective of Steve's daughter's, Jenn & Michelle and his wife, Becky. In case you didn't know, Steve was diagnosed in August 2018 with a brain cancer known as Glioblastoma Multiforme or GBM. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor, followed by aggressive radiation; however, GBM tumors always return, and usually rather quickly. At the end of July 2019, Steve made the brave decision to discontinue treatment as the treatment wasn't affecting the tumor and was dramatically decreasing his quality of life. Following this decision, he and Becky moved to Steve's childhood home in Portland to be closer to family and friends who could help Becky and the girls care for him in his final days. While he's no longer able to speak or walk, he remains in relatively good spirits and can understand what we say. We appreciate all the tributes, visits, and support we've received from his community.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Family of Steve D'Ambrosia

Hi everyone,
He had Steve's final funeral in Redmond this last week and it was lovely. Thank you to the Redmond community for being so wonderful to our dad and for taking such wonderful care of our mother during these sad times.

Thank you everyone who was able to attend the funerals. It was wonderful seeing so many old friends despite us being gathered for something so sad.

With both funerals behind us, we are beginning the difficult task of going through his various collections. We have so appreciated the offers of help and we promise to take you up on them as we get through things.

We will probably not make anymore posts on this site. If you need to reach us, you can email Jenn directly by clicking here.

We are so, so, so unbelievably thankful for all of you. All of your prayers, your help, support, phone calls, flowers, and endless hugs while we've cried on your shoulders. Dad's friends and family are the only things that are giving us comfort has we travel this road of unbelievable grief.

All our love and gratitude,
Steve's Girls!
(Becky, Jenn and Michelle)
