Dear Susie-- thank you for letting us know that today is your 30th wedding anniversary--and for sharing with us some of your reflections in this journey of grief. We think about you and pray for you often (the Lord still brings you to mind when I'm doing dishes after dinner, for some reason!). We love you, and are also waiting with you for the day we can gather in person to grieve and to celebrate Steve's life.

Dear Suzie - Thank you for this achingly beautiful reflection of loss and hope. Incredible how the Lord made us to hold seemingly opposite emotions at the same time in a mysterious, curiously human way. I have thought of you many times and lifted you to the Lord in prayer over these summer weeks. Continuing to carry you. Love, Carol

Oh, Susie. “30 things you can no longer remember.” And these are ones you probably wish you could, not a bad argument, but more like the feel of his hand in yours. You are so right that losing Steve is grief upon grief and the fear of forgetting more and more is real. It can make it so hard to want to move forward. Entrusting you to the God who will be faithful with every tear. And thanking God for each precious year He have you two! Praying On for your tender broken-heart.

Susie, Thank you for sharing your beautiful reflection. You are in our prayers and we remember Steve so fondly. Those memories are a fraction of what you have, though rich nonetheless. Blessings, Kurt and Laura

It helps me to join you in your grief and to continue to pray for God's comfort for you and your family in this very difficult season. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thank you, Susie. I have thought about you often this spring... Usually during televised funerals of Significant People. ...And I think, "This is the kind of service Steve would have had..." "Look at the family, surrounded by loving friends and neighbors from far and wide--supporting them, telling his children about him..." Sigh. Well, it will be quite a reunion when we are all together on this side of the veil or in Glory. Thank you for continuing to share your life with us in these thoughts and feelings and questions. I just saw Caleb singing on a video our region is producing--and treasure him as a colleague and delegate to our hearts from the Colby family. We love you, Susie. Praying for you on this day especially.
