Yesterday I had my final breast reconstruction.   It was a 3 hour surgery.  They took fat from my belly and grafted it around the new implants to make them look more natural and softer.  I’m all bound up - mummified- right now so I can’t tell.  I’m sure I’ll look like Barbie right.   My youngest brother asked if I have that new car smell!  Ha.   I was able to go home after.  I have to wear the binders and sleep on my back for 4 weeks.  If that’s my biggest problem I’m lucky.

I’m trying to find balance with work, home life and taking care of myself.   I still don’t have my energy back and my joints ache.  I’m told it can take up to two years.  Chemo ages you by 15 years if you don’t fight back to get in shape and eat responsibly.    I’m ready to take up that challenge.  Jeff has been great at reminding me to slow down and to help me to make better choices.

I’m so grateful to my family, friends, work family and my loving patients.  I’m surrounded by amazing people who understand and uplift me everyday.

There’s always a fear that it might come back or that I may get a new “C word” but I can’t live in cancer-land, it’s toxic.  I’m taking control of what I can - stress, getting rid of chemicals and having more joy around me.   I thank God every day for all that I have and ask the Holy Spirit to heal every cell in my body.

Have a beautiful & blessed Thanksgiving!
