Stephanie’s Story

Site created on July 22, 2021

Stephanie (Witt) Winkelpleck was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Summer of 2021. She was taken to UIHC to do testing and treatments. She has now started chemotherapy.
Steph is a fun-loving, go-getter of a woman. She is the definition of STRONG. She is a daughter, niece, cousin, friend, and very loving wife and mother. And, her hair skills? Can’t be beat. Just like her!

Newest Update

Journal entry by KT Lang

Update from Mama Cindy:

“Since Steph’s last update, her kidney levels are back to normal. Her eye doctor appointment went well, no active bleeds.
Her platelets started to drop last week and she ended up getting a transfusion last Friday. It lasted through the weekend, but this morning at her appointment in Iowa City they were down to 8. She had a CT scan since she had a sever headache. Checking for possible bleeds. She will be getting an IVIG infusion today and tomorrow to help with her platelets. The doctors have stopped her blood thinner until her platelets go back up. Seems like one step forward and two steps back.
Thank you everyone for your continued prayers and help with Neva.”
