Journal entry by Kyle Vesper —
We thank you for your love and support the past year. So many people have asked what they can do to help during this time. Often times at church or work, it can be hard enough to get through the day. We understand people's care and well-meaning but wish to let people know that numerous questions can be difficult and emotional on an ongoing basis throughout the day. If possible, we would gently request that you ask if now is a good time to talk when asking for updates.
I know it has been a long time since the last update. Many of you have been asking how things are through friends and family. Some of you we got to see at the UA Lacrosse Game recently, and we are so thankful for all the support and love we have received from the UA lacrosse family- 3132.
Kyle is still fighting this fight with dignity and grace. Through this fall and winter he underwent ongoing oral chemo therapy and then entered a study in Boston around Christmas time. Unfortunately, he only was able to remain in the study for a few months due to progression of the tumor. Since February, he began a new chemotherapy regimen along with an additional course of radiation which he finished recently.
As of late, his biggest challenges are mobility and strength in his right side as well as difficulty speaking and finding words. This especially has been exceedingly frustrating for Kyle as he is loosing independence.
Thank you all for everything, we hope to have your support in person or via donations for Brain Tumor 5k on June 1st. Thank you to everyone who has already helped us to pass $5000 in donations for brain cancer research. Come join our team- Golden Bears for Glioblastoma.
