Journal entry by Stacy Lewis —
365 days...whew! November 4, 2020 I was told I had esophageal cancer. I can't even wrap my brain around all the things that have happened to my body and my spirit in this last trip around the sun. Most of those things I am so grateful that I would have no idea how horrible they would be. Am I well? Scans for three months post surgery are scheduled for next week. My surgeon and oncologist are both positive that these scans will be good. I don't know what I think. Physically, I am a fraction of the person I was. Perhaps that's from treatment and surgery or perhaps the cancer is still there. I don't know what to feel. The struggle to gain nutrition is unbelievable. Dehydration plaques me as every thing I put in my body is the enemy. Severe dehydration lead to a two week battle with Covid (yep, fully vaccinated). In and out of Johnston Willis Hospital. Pedialyte has been my best friend but the energy is slow to return. I am so thankful for my family and friends and my community of prayer warriors. I need each and every one of your prayers. Looking forward to being stronger for the holidays
