Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

For those of you who haven’t heard and those that have been waiting for updates on my brother, Spencer Haukaas Hughes. He was in a motorcycle accident late Thursday night. Spenc is in Alaska, and when he wrecked he did not have any family contact information and his phone was dead...we didn’t hear anything about this until yesterday afternoon... if it wasn’t for his amazing friend Cody who went the extra mile to check up on Spenc we still wouldn’t know. We are a million times grateful for him. Currently Spenc is in an induced coma due to bleeding and swelling in his brain. He was able to move his extremities when they woke him the first time, but they want his body to rest. They had to remove blood from his lungs and he has a broken arm and collar bone. Because of Covid we are not able to be with him in the hospital. We were able to see Spenc but don’t know if he was able to hear us as we have poor connection. We will be checking back today for updates which he is going to be getting another scan on his brain...praying for better news there. His nurse sounded optimistic and we are trying to be too. Spenc is one tough fella but he needs all of our love and strength to get through this right now. ❤️ I keep talking to him and hope he hears me. Love ya brutha and we got you ❤️❤️❤️

Journal entry by Hailey Klundt

40 days after being in the hospital Spenc was finally able to break out!! 🙏🏼❤️  He will be doing outpatient rehab for a couple weeks up there and then we will be trying to get him back home. He is staying with a buddy so he is not alone all of the time. He still has his gtube which he has to keep until the 28th. His trach hole is kinda gross if you ask me but it is healing. He has an eye patch to work his bad eye, and glasses to wear otherwise. He’s lost about 40 pounds since being in there and it definitely shows...skinny turd he is! Praying that things work out so we can bring him home. He is ready to trim that big ol beard of his and wear some real clothes! Thank you to everyone who has supported him and all of us and those who continue to support us. We will be forever grateful. 🥰 He has some work to do to get back to where he was. Please don’t forget about the goFundMe and also we will be having his benefit golf tournament down in Gregory along with a bean bags tournament and silent auction. Thanks again!! 💙 love ya long time Spenc. Can’t wait to get ya home. 🤗

Dark blue picture was today when he was released.  🙏🏼

Statue picture was on Sunday when he was able to go outside for a walk for the first time! 💙
