Stephen - I just learned of your plight this morning from Shayne Lightener during our Zoom fellowship. I've just finished reading through all your Caring Bridge messages. I had wanted to say "What rotten luck" but wont because of the wonderfully positive way you have faced it all. Your courage will stand to me as a model of how to behave in adversity.
Stephen, many moons ago I had the gift of your gentle presence/wisdom/instruction at Quaker Center. You made such an impression on me, and you've stayed in my heart ever since. You are there ever more fiercely now. Holding you in the Light, and sending all manner of warmth and love your way.
Stephen- You've gifted your readers with a sparkling narrative; now we are spoiled and eagerly await future installments - when time & energy allow. Your journal reminds me of Walden Pond. (And please remember that Henry David Thoreau used to bring his laundry home to mama). Glad that your family can help you maintain a dignified civilian wardrobe. May the charm offensive continue. Peace, peace , peace.
Good Morning Stephen - Your days seem quite eventful! You get out of your living space more than I do these days. It is Sunday morning 9:46 and I'm about to log on to zoom and attend Redwood Forest Meeting. I will hold you in my prayers and heart. Small blessings, Karen
It’s sometime in the future and this guy walks into a brain store to buy a brain.
The shopkeeper asks him what he can do for him and the man says, “I’d like a brain, please.”
The shopkeeper says, “Well, I’ve got three brains to choose from. First, here’s a doctor’s brain that costs two thousand dollars. And second, here’s a lawyer’s brain. It costs three thousand dollars. Lastly, I’ve got a welders brain which is ten thousand dollars.”
The guy replies, “You’ve got to be kidding me! Why is the welder’s brain so expensive?”
The shop keeper says, “But sir, it’s hardly been used.”
Stephen--naturally I found this on a site full of welders' jokes. Some ammunition in case you get to talk to the neurosurgeon. Mostly I prefer farmer jokes. Did you hear about the wooden tractor? Wooden wheels, wooden engine, wooden transmission. Wooden work.
Keep stirring the pot, enjoy those drives when they give you a ride. We always love to see what's going on out there, don't we.
What a treat to hear from you as you're experiencing the many new and also same things on this journey of responding with others to what's gone on in your brain - a very lot since I last saw you in Friend's mtg in Dec. I have a neighbor next door who's been living with diagnosis of glioblastoma and is seven years out from first surgery then had second surgery and has outlived her" expected " time with much grace and natural positive outlook and demeanor. She's having difficulty with expressing things verbally and I have been so moved by your open sharing of much of your experience. The message on my kitchen wall in front of me OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALING ARE UNBOUNDED. This I know to be true. Hearts sent though don't know where to click for such:)
Hi Stephen, we are with you in spirit. Hope to see you at zoom worship tomorrow. Stay strong f(Friend), we keep you in the light. xoxo Demece, Sally, and Daniel
Just logged on! I'm glad you're a happy camper! Ah shucks, I see you're riding in a car! I can't image biking to cancer treatment. We are sheltering at home with our garden to keep us occupied. No children's theatre classes until the fall. We've got more people interested in subscribing to our CSA. Think of it: local veggies touched only by Tom and Sandy, and most of the time we wear gloves.
We send you our love. Is SFFM doing Zoom worship? PAFM is, and I think the San Mateo WG will also.
We'll check in occasionally. Sandy
