Here's to getting up and getting out every day even if it's only for PT. Keep healing!

Hi Stephen,
I appreciate the picture and you look good in it, really. I think of you often with love in my heart and am sending you best wishes for a positive outcome. I wonder if you are missing your bicycle. I’m working on a spring issue of the AVP/CA Newsletter. If there’s something you’d like to share in it let me know.

Stephen, I was just today able to log on and follow your journey, which I'm finding to be pretty amazing. I agree with you about Zoom making a lasting impression that will enable people at a distance or with health issues to attend meetings. We're seeing that happen with our Meetings for Worship and group discussions. We are having a workshop on Climate stuff this Saturday and Humboldt Friends will be joining us. Plus Quarterly Meeting is going virtual. All very heady stuff.

Jim and I are encouraged to read of your progress and are grateful that you are getting the care and therapy that you need. When you find time to write is a mystery, considering all the trips you are making to your various activities! We look forward to seeing you via Zoom in the near future and in real life one of these days. Sending love and hugs! Blissful Barbara

Hello my friend, so good to see your photo! You look great, and I love the beard. Sounds like you are progressing and as always, working diligently toward your goals. I sent a longer email a few days ago if you're up to reading email. In the meantime, you are in my thoughts every day and I send you endless love.

Progress Stephen! Gives new meaning to "one step at a time." Congrats to you!!
Here, I arose at 6:20 this a.m. in order to get to the big discount market for "senior hours" from 7-8. This is my once a month stock up so it's a big deal. (There was even ample TP!) Everyone was masked and some gloved. The new normal. Still 6-foot distancing. The market had 6-ft tape markers on the floor at checkout, but I am noticing a LOT less anxiety, more nods, "We're all in this together." But but but, baseball. Hugs, pj

Dear Stephen, Thanks for filling us in on the details about your physical challenge of learning to walk again!!
I am amazed at your spirit of acceptance and getting on with it!! Your essence is what shines through in your posts
and that's what we love about you! Your smile is an expression of your love of us and love of life and whether
it is droopy or not, it still is genuine and heartfelt!!
Our love and gratitude for you,

Hi Steven! I'm just joining your blog. Phil and I are in your group of supporters now! Talked with your Dad yesterday (Phil & I are both on the HCEC board with your mom & dad)---called him to let them know about the $1 million grant through the Washington State Dept. of Ecology for GPC (Great Peninsula Conservancy) to buy a beautiful pristine piece of property on Hood Canal at the end of Misery Point near Seabeck proper. That's when we found out about you. We're keeping you close in heart and thought, please know that, and we'll be calling your Dad to stay in touch with them as they go through this with you. They have amazing resilience, so we know that, being their son, you do too---I can see that in your blog! I remember meeting you, Steven, in Phil's office here in our home---a handsome fella as I remember so I didn't need a photo today! Take care, Steven, we'll be following on your blog! Our love to you 'cause your one of the wonderful Matchetts!

Hi Stephen, so good to read your reflections and know you are doing better. Whoever's idea the Caringbridge, it was great!!! And a lot of people (including myself) are wondering about keeping those online connections alive to make it easier for people to connect without the need to drive to places. Seeing pictures of Downtown LA without the smog is quite impressive. Cuidate mucho!
