Dear Stephen, we send our love to you. We hold you daily in the light. On this day that groups of humans celebrate Holy Thursday, I am reminded of the gifts Christ gave for us. May you be nourished, as always, by Christ. You are a light to us all.
Hugs,
Sandy

Stephen--I'm chipping in because Kathy just gave me the address to read your blog. My password is your name for yourself from early childhood--St Peahen. Charm Offensives for patients are not new to me, since I was lobbied hard from 16 to 20 to be a doctor--specifically a neurosurgeon--by my dad. Have scrubbed in and assisted at 37 major operations and endless minor procedures. But you are genuinely charming and want to connect with people, so I bet you're getting your needs met. Sounds like you're still homing in on a diagnosis and second opinions, and they're already deeply into the personal torture for you known as physical therapy. And they're probably also trying to keep the coronavirus away as well. Have you been following the news or trying to limit your stimuli in that direction? It's mostly not funny, unless you have a particularly dark sense of humor about the trumpian obsessions and his persistent madness. I am cheered by your description of your food, which is no trivial matter when you see something you like and want more of it, but have to ration yourself. Creating your own stirfry--now that is a puzzle to spend a few minutes with. Your folks told me they are amazed at how quickly your speech is bouncing back, and how they can understand you, and especially your sense of humor. I've been thinking and reading about Abraham Lincoln's use of humor, and the books and articles about it. A favorite: Just because the cat has her kittens in the oven, that don't make 'em biscuits. And another: How many legs does a dog have, if you call his tail a leg? Four. Just because you call a tail a leg, don't make it one. Be strong and playful with whatever comes your way to be played with. Love, Paul

Dearest Stephen, I am grateful you are sharing your experiences with us, wish I could do more than just thinking of you with love and sending you positive energy. Let's hope the results from Stanford will offer good treatment options. Is it possible for you to get visitors these days? I hope so! I know that here in Amsterdam, because of the situation, only one visitor is allowed for half an hour. And it has to be the same person every day... Sending you virtual hugs and kisses from Europe! Love, Wolfgang

Stephen, I hear you, feeling disheartened by the news thus far. Know that we all love you dearly and are here for you with prayers and shoulders for a good virtual cry any time. The full moon has brought a lot of grief to the surface. You’re not alone.
