Hi John, Thanks for sharing. I'm also a Washingtonian. Stephen provided a SF home during visits while finishing graduate school. I was happily surprised to run into him at a Seattle food coop last year. Guessing during the same visit you describe. I didn't know that was our goodbye but now I'm grateful for the hug we shared.

Hi Pam, good to know you're still there -- in the middle. I am happy for that sharing to be shared anywhere you think might be of value. Still in shock as to Stephen's passing. Think I'll be there for awhile. Blessings to you friend, John

Greetings from Oregon,
John, what an extraordinary memorial. I forwarded it on to the Quaker Women's Book Group, Heidi, Ann, Linda, Sue and I who are Zooming tomorrow. Think the SF Meeting would be an appropriate place to share this wonderful gift. hugs and love, Pam
Still half-way between Portland and San Francisco

Thank you, John, for writing this. I love the concept of Stephen as being, as embodying, a "thin place." I did not know him as well as you, and our paths only crossed about 3 times, but each time with Stephen was a blessing and a good memory. I have a simple story about meeting him at PacYM annual sessions in 2005 when I was an "official" FWCC visitor. It was a transformative week among unprogrammed Friends which I will treasure, particularly the "Bible study in the manner of Friends" as led by Stephen.

Quakers don't talk much about the afterlife. I really hope that there is one, and that Stephen and I can remember and remind each other of what we loved here.
