Shirley’s Story

Site created on May 18, 2020

Welcome to Shirley’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Some of you reading this have maybe just met Shirley and others have known her for years. Regardless of how long you’ve known her, you probably know her as someone who is always on the go, wether it’s attending her grandkids’ activities, organizing events at church, or just simply enjoying dinner out with her husband (Tom), she loves spending time with others. She also has a passion for helping others. But now she is going to need love and support from all of you.

Shirley is currently in the process of waiting on a biopsy to confirm that the masses the doctors saw on her images are in fact pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, the doctor is certain enough just by the images, they plan to also place a port for chemotherapy at the time of the biopsy.

We will update journal entries as we start to learn more. Thank you for your love and prayers.

Journal entry by Deanna Monson

It still doesn’t seem real that it’s been two weeks since our Mom lost her short battle with cancer.  Our hearts will forever be missing a little something with her gone.

We have definitely felt the love and support from those both near and far.  We also know that several people would love to attend either one or both services but can’t for a variety of reasons.  If you are  unable to attend, they will be streaming both services.  The links are at the top of her obituary https://www.hansonrunsvold.com/m/obituaries/Shirley-Tietz/Memories

We can’t say thank you enough to the church pastors and staff, as well as the funeral directors who have all been working together to support our family and prepare her services.  It can’t be easy helping a family say their final goodbyes when they also have close connections to the individual. ❤️
