Shirley’s Story

Site created on June 30, 2019

Hello Everyone and welcome!! As most of you already know Shirley has been very sick lately. Numerous doctor visits and hospital stays have lead her to Jefferson University in Philadelphia Penna. Shirley  lost a lot of weight and strength but the problem was finally found and diagnosed.  She has a problem with acid reflux which has lead to the bottom of her esophagus being damaged by stomach acid. She also has a mass at the top of her pancreas which could possibly be cancerous. At the time this story was written we have no results from the biopsy. On Wednesday July 3, 2019 Shirley will undergo surgery to hopefully correct these problems. She has a topnotch doctor and team working on this problem. Through out the day on Wednesday I will post on here and progress reports we get and how things are progressing. Sonny will have support people with him and he and the support staff will be staying in Philly.  Please check here often Wednesday to see the posts cause Sonny will not want to be on the phone.  Thank you everyone!!! We love you all and please keep Shirley in your Thoughts and Prayers!!

Journal entry by Charlene Lynerd

Hello everyone. Shirley and Sonny are home.  Both are happy about that. Shirley was very alert and a lot like herself today. She is just happy to be home. There are home care nurses coming in to assist with her recovery. She also is having a Physical Therapist and Occupational come in starting tomorrow. She has a slew of medications. Everything is to help her heal. We have follow up appointment already sheduled. We are all relaxed and in positive moods. Thank you all so much for your support and Prayers on this journey of Shirley's. It is not over yet but when Shirley was asked today what her goals were her answer was... " I just wanna get strong again, and be able to walk again. " So everyone needs to encourage Shirley to meet those goals and to exceed them. 💖
