Journal entry by Heather O'Gorman —
This is never something that is easy to write about, but we know that mom has so many loved ones and friends throughout the states, so this is the easiest way to keep everyone updated. About a month ago she started having hives and experiencing some symptoms, and on November 20th a fall landed her in the hospital. Unfortunately, due to Covid, my dad had to say goodbye to her the next day, and I didn't get a chance to see her. Her health declined pretty rapidly, and after many tests she was diagnosed with high grade neuroendocrine tumors, which is a super aggressive form of cancer. She had multiple tumors in her liver and it had spread throughout her bones.
She was a trooper and did a hospital stay, but unfortunately the prognosis is not a good one. On December 1st, we had to make the tough decision to have her transferred to a hospice facility where she can get round the clock care. Dad and I were able to see here for her for the first time in 10 days, and she is comfortable and the nurses are fantastic. We wanted to create this site not only to share her updates, but also to allow anyone to leave words of encouragement as we will make sure she hears them. Although she isn't responsive, I have no doubt that when we read some of the thoughts from her loved ones it will help ease her transition.
