Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Please pardon any typos or editing errors. Typing and texting are difficult for Sherrill, a symptom of the spinal injury. In 18 months, we'll see some improvement, until then, she apologizes!

Journal entry by Sherrill Morris

I've been discharged from home health because there is (almost) no wound left. Yeah, they d/ced me one day and a scab showed up the next. But it doesn't hurt so as long as the scab stays on and protects it, I think I'm good. I've tried to keep good bandaids on it but so far none of the bandaids I've put on will stay on because of the location on the neck and the twisting and turning.  To reopen the nursing services, which would allow a nurse to come out and put a real (read: unnecessarily large) bandage on it, I need to go see my surgeon which won't be till the 4th of June. But then I'm hoping I'm all healed on the outside and it's blown over.

As for the inside, the healing goes on with the bone grafting. I am still off of access-a-ride RTD until the bone grafting is complete but so far that is going okay. I've been able to get by without a lot of what I thought was necessary so that is like a spiritual discipline or a transportation downsizing? something like that.

Good news is that for the first time since the brain surgery I have had the time and thought to develop an idea for a book. I still can't read an entire book by another author so I'm not sure what this will play out like but I'm willing to give it a try. I'm very excited to be #amwriting again!

Thanks for reading this and keeping up with me and my progress. Progress it is!
