Journal entry by Sherri Jordan

Hello friends,
Well we are just a few days away from my hip replacement surgery (11/17).  I'm dreading it as who in their right mind wants to have 3 surgeries in 1 year....not me!  But it makes sense to get it over with as my hip is not going to improve (bone on bone) and all my insurance deductibles are paid up.  The surgery is out-patient (which was a surprise) so I'll be going home the same day as the surgery.  I will start Physical Therapy the day of the surgery and then 2 days after followed by 10 more appointments - twice a week.
Poor Gina has to play Nurse Ratchet and chauffer yet again - not that she's been Nurse Ratchet...she has been pretty wonderful!!  Recovery time is 6-8 weeks so that's not to bad.  Eight weeks will be mid January and I hope to be able to go back to work onsite rather than remote. (Yes I'm back to working full time now) I can't believe I'm saying I want to go back onsite but frankly some of the people that I manage have lost their minds and are not behaving very well.  I need to go back so I can babysit them more effectively.  Or perhaps punch them in their liver. (kidding)

In other news, my new medication - the estrogen blocker - hasn't been to bad except for night sweats - which is gross.

My hair is GROWING!!!!  I am so thankful it's coming back.  I was so scared it wouldn't.  It's about 1/4 inch long and it's starting to thicken up - in places. Obviously, I would prefer for it to grow an inch per night (faster) but it is chugging along!  I thought it would be more grey than black but currently looks to be about half and half - depending on the angle you're looking.  i.e. from the top it looks grey and from the side it's darker.   BTW the picture with the "top view" looks like the hair is pretty thick...it's not...I just got lucky and it looks that way.  :)

Gina and I are going to host a VERY casual Thanksgiving day with some family members coming over.  We're thinking a non-traditional meal like Chicken Enchiladas or a one pot casserole dish type thing.  Gina will decide as she will have to be chief cook and bottle washer.  But maybe I can sit at the kitchen counter and "chop onions" but 9 days out from the hip surgery I won't be doing what I normally do in the kitchen.  Nor will I get to play "bartendris" - which makes me sadder.  LOL!  There is something about making that perfect drink that I enjoy so much!

Anyway - I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  There is soooo much to be thankful for....!
