Journal entry by Liza Binkley —
Dearest friends who have supported our family throughout these past four years, to immediately follow the passing of our beloved father with the holiday season that is supposed to be so full of family and merriment and new years looking at a hopeful year ahead, well, it’s been an especially challenging past two months to be sure. We were grateful to our family friends and to Uncle Nick, Sam & Zoelle for welcoming us in to join them for the holidays. We are in mourning, and the loss of both our mom and dad in such a short period of time feels like losing two of our most important organs. I felt as if my heart stopped when my sweet mama passed and now as if my lungs can no longer breathe without my father. And yet I realize, in this very moment, that it is thanks to their deep love for all of these years and the profound support from all of you that we can move forward through the valley, slowly, thoughtfully, one day at a time, sometimes minute by minute hour by hour.
With that resiliency, my sister and I were able to take on the tall task of writing our father’s obituary which we are proud to share with you in what was just published in the San Antonio Express News: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/sanantonio/name/john-binkley-obituary?id=54024654
