Newest Update

Journal entry by Morgan Skarin

Hey, everyone! Happy October!

Here's an update on momma.

The big PET scan day that we've been patiently waiting for was on Monday, and mom was supposed to meet with her oncology team on Thursday (yesterday) to discuss the results. But instead, her radiation oncologist gave her a call on Tuesday, the morning after her PET scan. (Ughhhh, right?) The good news is that her original tumor has continued to shrink- yay!! Not completely out of the woods yet, but definitely looking better. God is GOOD.

With that being said, mom's PET scan did highlight something else going on in multiple lymph nodes around her body, including in her lungs and abdominal area. Her doctors told us that the ones on her lungs would be the easiest to biopsy, so we met with the pulmonologist yesterday and got her scheduled for surgery this coming Wednesday.

We are all a little bummed, and of course a little worried. But to nobody's surprise, mom's outlook has remained joyful, hopeful, and Christ-centered. (The attached photo is one I took at the pulmonologist appointment yesterday- you can just tell how big she's smiling, even behind the mask!) She hasn't failed ONCE to lead by example, reminding me and everyone else around her what it looks like to live in Faith, regardless of what life may throw at us. We are praying hard that the biopsy results come back negative, but also for God's perfect peace should we get answers that we don't necessarily want.

The last several weeks have also been a little rough for mom, physically. She is experiencing pretty extreme leg & joint pain, fatigue, and nausea that comes and goes. All of this also effects her appetite, so her weight is continuing to drop. So in addition to the prayers for negative biopsy results and peace, we are also asking God for healing, relief from pain, strength, and energy.

We are so thankful for everyone who has continued to pray, check-in, send mom sweet letters, and text her funny things to make her laugh. Love and appreciate you all lots!

Have a great weekend, y'all!
