Sherawn had her final procedure today!!! The port has left the building!!

The port that was inserted under her skin, that the doctors used to administer chemo, was removed today. The procedure was quick, she was only under anesthesia for about 10-15 minutes. By the time they brought her back into her room, she was laughing and telling the nurses about the time she touched an octopus. We are now home and resting.

I also wanted to give an update on her heart. Sherawn is doing very well! She is still under some pretty heavy restrictions and that is the biggest frustration. She really wants to get back to working with her massage clients!! Unfortunately, it will still be a while yet before she will be able to work. For right now, the plan is to be open in a limited capacity by the end of May. By the end of June, hopefully, she will be back up and running as normal. She will be sending out more info to her clients as things get closer to opening.

It is so wonderful to be seeing light at the end of this tunnel. Only a couple more months to go.

We cannot thank you all enough for the wonderful support you have shown us through all of this!! You have helped us beyond measure. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

I don’t know that any of them are reading this but I want to share publicly just how incredible the staff from St. Luke’s have been. This journey was made so much less painful because of how much love Sherawn was able to get from her team. Above and beyond!

Words are in no way adequate for how we are feeling right now, so I will wrap this up for now. I am not sure how much more we will be posting on CaringBridge; probably just one or two more over the next couple of months. I have more that I will be sharing in my blog tomorrow about what moving forward will look like. You’ll be able to find the link for that on my Facebook page if you want to read it.

In the meantime here are a couple of prayer requests.

Prayer of thanks!! God is good. In all of this, God is good.

Continued healing for Sherawn’s sternum and her rehabilitation for the effects of her open heart surgery.

Continued healing from the effects of chemo and radiation. She will still be feeling that for some time to come.

And lastly a prayer for protection. The next couple of months need to be as uneventful as possible. We are about as stretched as we can be right now, and gotta say, not a fan.

We love you!!

Nate
