Shellie’s Story

Site created on September 22, 2021

Welcome to Shellie's CaringBridge website.  I am honored to be asked by Shellie to help coordinate this site to keep family and friends updated and informed in one place.

In August, 2021,  Shellie discovered a lump on her left breast.  Over the course of a couple of weeks, the lump grew larger,  causing pain and discomfort.  Upon seeing a gynecologist, she was immediately  sent for an ultrasound, which revealed a suspicious mass, presenting like cancer.  She was quickly sent for a biopsy and a mammogram.

On September 22, she learned the mass was indeed cancer and was diagnosed with Metastatic Carcinoma.   As you can imagine, this was shocking news to Shellie, her family and close friends .

She has begun the process of doctors visits and research, however, the complete picture is yet to be seen as she's waiting on test results.   Therefore the treatment plan is still unknown.  She has a medical team here in Albuquerque but may seek a second opinion out of state.

Shellie is in good spirits, feels hopeful about her future, and plans to kick Cancer's butt!

She appreciates your support, words of hope and encouragement and of course, your prayers.   Shellie's focus now is on her health, so please understand if she does not reply to your messages, texts and phone calls during this time.

Updates will posted as often as possible.   Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Lisa Quintana

Surgery follow up visits for the week are complete and news from the docs is something to celebrate for sure. Not only did all go well with surgery and so far with Shellie’s healing, but the final pathology report shows no cancer and an excellent response to treatment!
Next step is radiation which will begin around the beginning of August with hopes of being completed in September.
Her hair is growing back, her energy is slowly returning and her determination is evident.  In addition, clearly the love, support and positive energy coming from her friends and family is working.  ❤️
A huge shout out to Melody and Solas for your love, attention and sacrifice, to Thea for being a Nurse at work and after work, and to Judie for driving Miss Daisy.
We love you Shellie.  I’m so honored to be your General and can’t wait to formally celebrate when treatment is finished!
