Site created on May 6, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Sheila has battled colon cancer the past few years and recently a cancerous tumor was found resulting in a full colon removal and placement of an ostomy bag.  Surgery was done Wednesday April 25.

Due to complications Sheila was airlifted to Avera hospital in Sioux Falls and is currently in the ICU.  Family has been with her throughout and appreciates your thoughts and prayers.

Journal entry by Amy Ziegler

The end of this month brings some changes.  Moms got a new surgeon and another plan. Mom’s chemo will be pushed to January to March. She needs some time, 6 weeks, to concentrate on getting better in order to face surgery again. They will be pulling out and cutting her stoma to get rid of an ulcer they can’t get to or treat any other way. So she’s looking forward to some time away from treatments but wants to get this bleeding and pain under control. No word on the kidney tube fix as of yet. To bad it couldn’t be a two-fer surgery day!!!!!!  Enjoy your first day of fall tomorrow!!  And continued thanks for all your encouragement and support!
