You probably don't even remember, but when Casey's tumor ruptured, they were 100% positive that it had destroyed the optic chiasm therefore rendering him completely blind. We accepted that and continued on under the premise that we would deal with his blindness when we were out of the woods with the rest of his issues. He was in a medically induced coma and lots of other things were much more critical. After a few days and when they started to bring him out of the coma, there were about 15 of us in his room right after rounds, drs, nurses, me, Steve and my mom and dad. (We broke lots of rules back then in the PICU)! Casey was coming out of the coma and we were talking to him, as he woke up a little he asked for me and I was right there by his side. He gave me a groggy nod and said "Mickey Mouse??" No one but I knew the significance of that statement because a friend had bought me a shirt in the gift shop due to lack of clothes that had a HUGE Mickey Mouse all over the front. Casey had never seen that shirt before and we all realized in that moment that he wasn't blind. Much bellering, blubbering and practically screams of joy were heard throughout the entire PICU and even out to the waiting room, many people came running and the noise got even louder. Casey even clapped not knowing what we were all so excited for. Many tears of joy were shed that day. Enjoy the little things and know that a little blurryness is a small price to pay for being here. I'm so happy you're here as are a million others and I think of you in my prayers each and every day. LOVE YOU!!! Jules

Great news overall, we’re so thankful for all the good news you’ve been getting! Also, your lights looked great, when we drove past Garrik said, “Hey, the Baldwins put up lights this year!”❤️
