Shayne and Denise:
There's no way I can even imagine what the past 20 months have been like for you. I've spent the past few days reflecting on what is really important in life. I've been lucky enough to have a few days off and I've been able to spend them with my wife and two girls--along with my mom, sister and her family in McCook and my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her family in Hastings.

Though the relationships and memories with my family are the most important to me, I have also been fortunate enough to have built more relationships and friendships with others. A few I may keep in weekly or monthly contact with. Many more I keep track of through Facebook posts or once-in-a-while texts or phone calls. But I do treasure all of the memories I have--even if I haven't seen the other people in years.

I cannot believe how quickly time has slipped away! I still remember practicing football with Shayne, getting ready for the 8-man all star game like it was 3-4 years ago. And now we're 50 years old!

I am so glad that Shayne has continued to have positive experiences in his life. Introducing Kevin Hines, watching Husker games, and going deer hunting with his daughter are memories you two (and your kids and friends) will own forever.

I want to tell you both how incredible you both are. Shayne, not only for being strong and a survivor, but also for being a thriving man, husband, and father. And for you, Denise....what a strong, incredible, wonderful woman you are! To be such a loving caregiver is certainly not something you were expecting, but you seem to handle this impossible task with energy, enthusiasm, compassion, empathy, and love. Shayne is lucky to have you as his wife (of course, I told Shayne that before you two were even married! :)

Sorry I have rambled on so long.....really all I wanted to say was Merry Christmas and that I am thinking of you both. I pray that 2020 will bring even more improvement to Shayne's condition. I hope that our paths cross again someday.

God Bless you both.

We have observed so many improvements in the last few weeks. So wonderful to see and hear glimpses of the "ole Shayne". His sense of humor is very noticeable! Prayers and love work miracles. Keep up the great work Shayne and Denise!
