Shaun’s Story

Welcome! My name is Melissa and I set up this page to help Shaun & Haley have a central place to communicate updates on Shaun while they are at UAB in Birmingham. 

Shaun began this journey back in March when he learned he had an infection that attacked his heart. He went through many tests and treatments until his appointment on Wednesday, May 15 which resulted in sending him to UAB in Birmingham, AL.

Shaun is currently in the Heart Transplant ICU. Please see the May 20 Journal entry for the latest update. 

Shaun, Haley, Hope and Jude -along with their families- covet your prayers. Hope & Jude are with Haley’s family and they visit every couple of days, as you can imagine, this is very difficult on all of them to be apart. Please pray for Hope & Jude especially, as they try to understand all that is going on. 


Shaun and Haley will be at UAB for an undetermined amount of time, thank you for checking updates, sending notes of love and encouragement- you can do this in the Well Wishes section- and upholding them in prayer!

Update on Shaun:
 
Shaun is officially listed as number 2 ACTIVE status on the transplant list! 😭❤️🙏🙌✝️ Please pray for both families involved on both sides of a transplant. 
 
He had a femoral (leg) IABP (Intra Aortic Balloon Pump) put in today around 3pm. Please pray for him to tolerate laying flat until Tuesday. Continue to pray for strength, comfort and clear wisdom for each step of this process.
