Sharon’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Sharon Pace began feeling ill with nausea and the inability to keep food down about two weeks before her sweet momma, Mary Pace was hospitalized, then put on hospice and then passed away on February 22 and was buried on February 25.

Sharon finally came back from Abilene to Denton to go to the doctor on February 28th. By this time, Sharon had been ill for about 4 weeks. The doctor called at 6:00am the next morning and told Sharon to go to the emergency room on March 1. When Sharon entered the hospital, they told her she was in Acute Renal Failure. She has been in the hospital since then, and has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells. She has now been prepared to begin chemotherapy and take the first round of treatments in the hospital over the next 4 days.

Sharon walks by faith, believing that God prepared her some 25 years ago to purchase a cancer insurance plan even though no one in her family has had cancer. She continues to speak of the gratefulness she feels that her mom did not have to see her go through this season of her life. Sharon shared with me she knows tomorrow is not promised to anyone of us, and she is grateful for each day. While she gently explains there is no cure for this cancer, she has hope that she will have more time to spend with family and friends. I believe it is worthy to note that a Cure for HIV has been found and there can be a cure around the corner for Multiple Myeloma as well.

Please join us in walking by faith with Sharon.
