Sharon’s Story

Site created on February 25, 2019

On February 6 Sharon was diagnosed with acute myloid leukemia (AML). Her treatment involved at least 6 weeks hospitalization, with chemo, blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies, and constant evaluations.  When her body could no longer take these treatments, they were stopped. Thank you for your support and words of hope and encouragement, and most of all your prayers.

Sheila Gagen wrote this poem this morning inspired by all of the music teachers and others who love Sharon:

Messengers

Perhaps you came
maybe you sat
perhaps your words
were enough so that
a hurting heart
knew a little less pain
for even a moment
and overcame
the mortal, this flesh,
to the world beyond
where angels minister
and worldly cares gone
I pray this for you
and may ministry come
from mercy's messengers
one by one

Sharon's memorial service was held at the Zanesville United Brethren Church. A fitting tribute to her life!
