Shannon’s Story

Site created on February 24, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website, and Shannon’s Cancer - Love - Adventure.

I am using this site to commemorate the ups and downs of this year-long journey of breast cancer and celebrate the changes that will come both to me and Shane.

We thank you for caring about our journey and invite your words of connection, support and love.

Journal entry by Shannon Hughes

I thought I would stop by and say hi.

This month, I have been through one year of cancer treatment (my treatment is two weeks from being done).

There are so many things are in motion, and as a result I feel caught up in a whirlwind of excitement and movement.  I have never been here before, and I am learning that being out of control is exhilarating.

There is much to share with you.  (A picture of our celebration here)

Surgery.

Campground hosting.

Music.  (Sleepytime songs here)

(Another) wedding for us.  Shane says he wants to marry me as many times as he can. <3

A fiftieth birthday. (Shane's). Yes, I am already fifty.  😃

We are preparing to travel and enjoy life untethered to doctors and medicine.  Riding bikes across the US together this next year, as we enjoy being alone and free.

I am learning to do life simply.

Joyfully.

Imperfectly.

Shane just reminded us that we live in the throne room of the present moment.  We are living with reverence.

The opposite of dis-ease is ease. We are living with ease.

I am listening to my affirmations every day while I strengthen my body doing yoga.

Re-creation.

I am still drinking water.  I remember often that water is love, as we enjoy the beauty of mountain streams and as we drink deeply of water-love that nourishes our souls and bodies.

We are grateful for health and life.  We are eager to celebrate with our tribe as one by one we each are vaccinated and the risk of COVID subsides in our world.

Be ready for us to swoop in and hug, laugh, dance, and have a drink with you.

Love you.
