Newest Update

Journal entry by Shannon Medeiros

The first of many 6 month check ups happened today with my oncologist.

The most wonderful  part is, I had to leave overnight scout camp with my boys to go to the appointment. Being here with them and doing something we love to do together is what I’m most grateful for right now. 9 months ago when I was told, you have Breast Cancer, all I could think about was all of the things I would miss out on with my beautiful boys and my  amazing husband. I’m here, working through the hard stuff for all of our future memories to be made.

I had a list of things to discuss with her today. I’m having a lot of nerve pain and itching sensations. Both are completely normal, but not fun to deal with. She said they will take to stop but should gradually begin going away in the next 6-12 months. It literally feels like lightning bolts shooting through my chest at times. Plus the itching is inside the breast and I can’t stop it or sooth it. Just another hurdle to navigate.

I am becoming extremely sensitive to all sorts of things and breaking out in rashes. She believes my immune system is very stressed and is over reacting to things it normally wouldn’t. I am making an appointment with an allergist to see what they can advise.

I have an area in my left breast that feels weird. She speculated it could possibly be scar tissue or damaged muscle or part of the implant.
To ensure we know exactly what’s going on in there I will have an ultrasound on July 6th. It will ease all of our minds to know exactly what is in there so we can watch it or just not have to worry about it. She is very certain it is nothing bad to worry about but being cautious is the way to go.

I’ve talked to the genetic doctor again and given her my update from all of my procedures and tests up until now. She is suffering colonoscopies every 3 years. Plus getting into an allergist and dermatologist as soon as I can.

The boys are doing great. Gregg is a rock as always. I’m not sure how he does it all the time.

I’m still working through a lot of mental blocks and hurdles. It’s tough to feel so off. I have good days and still many bad. I know it will get easier with time to manage the emotions and feelings.

Thankful to my support team all around me💗 My family and my village are my greatest blessings.

Thank you to everyone who is still checking in with me. I love you all💗💗💗
