Sergio’s Story

Site created on November 16, 2018

Sergio Capone is a great husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many people in his life.On Saturday, November 10th, 2018 Sergio was trimming trees on his property in Gilbertsville, PA when he was in a terrible accident.  After getting tangled up in the tree he was working on, a branch fell and trapped Sergio upside down against a tree resulting in a branch piercing his left leg.  New Hanover Fire and Rescue services were able to free Sergio after a harrowing 40 minutes and he was airlifted to Reading Hospital.

Sergio arrived at Reading Hospital in critical condition with abdominal bleeding and catastrophic damage to his left leg.  In six days, Sergio has soldiered through six surgeries.  Doctors were unfortunately forced to amputate Sergio's left leg due to the damage suffered in the accident.  They continue to work through cleaning the wounds and slowly closing up the damage.

Sergio is currently in stable condition and continues to fight  in the ICU at Reading Hospital.  As of 11/16/2018 he continues to be sedated, intubated and receiving nourishment through a feeding tube.  Sergio and his wife Kim have a long road ahead of them.

This site is intended to provide Kim (and Sergio) with an avenue to keep friends, family and co-workers updated on Sergio's healing and recovery.  The Capone family asks that adults consider how detailed they get with discussions of what happened with their own children or Sergio's son and daughter.  The family wants to try to keep the kids from the details of Sergio's ordeal.

If you're interested in helping the family with the financial burdens of this ordeal, a GoFundMe page has been set up at https://www.gofundme.com/sergio-capone039s-road-to-recovery.
