Sean’s Story

Site created on August 8, 2022

Thanks for checking in on Sean! This section just gives some background on what started all of this. Check the most recent journal entries to get current updates.

Background :
Sean has been sick for a few months with intense body pain, pins and needles, brain fog, headaches, fatigue, confusion, and more.  Over the last week, he started losing his balance, having left-sided weakness, drooping left side of face, and increased fatigue/confusion.
Yesterday we pretty much kidnapped him and took him to the ER to get help. It’s a good thing we did!!!

We knew SOMEthing was up, but were surprised to find out Sean has a large brain tumor that will require surgery and radiation or chemo. Not necessarily from cancer… but it’s big and it’s causing problems, so it’s  gotta go!  For now we’re here in the hospital (Washington Regional) getting him fluids and steroids and things…not sure of the timeline yet for hospital stay, but surgery will likely be on Friday (at Washington Regional).
It’s pretty serious, but you may be glad (or NOT glad) to know that he’s still cracking lots of jokes.

Our family and friends have been taking good care of us and our girls.

How to pray:
Please pray for safe removal of the tumor without paralysis or damage. It’s not a simple surgery. Also God’s guidance for decisions we are making!
Oh, and Sean to be careful and safe if he tries to get up from the hospital bed. He’s not supposed to, but he keeps trying.

Journal entry by Julie Smith

Dear family and friends (…and friends of friends, family of friends, friends of family…everyone in this beautiful web of support),

The love you’ve shown us has been overwhelming. We’ve been so cared for, prayed for, and practically loved. This has been the hardest thing we’ve gone through…and you are helping us through it. I wish I had time to write a personal card to each and every one of you who have brought us meals (or will be doing so), contributed financially, or helped us in so many ways.

I’m trying not to feel guilty that I don’t have enough margin to do that right now. Please accept this as an expression of our gratitude. I truly appreciate you and pray God blesses you for your compassion.

With love and gratitude, Julie and the 4 B’s
