Scott’s Story

Site created on September 26, 2019

Scott Devereaux Moore - August 29, 1959 - September 24, 2019 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Cloud, MN.

We had a memorial service on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Gooseberry Fall's State Park Lakeview Shelter from 2-4pm.

This will be a busy time at the park, so we recommend carpooling. There may or may not be parking at the shelter - if there is, you'll need to get a day state park pass at the contact station.  Passes are available at a discount for $5. Let them know you are with this event. Otherwise there are shuttles available. The forecast is currently for rain (his favorite weather) so be prepared for that. The shelter is enclosed, with a lake view, and there is a fire we'll be stoking.

Please send any cards (or trees) to 803 Mellwood Ave., Duluth, MN 55804.  Tricia and Scott are building a new house and many trees had to come down. Now it's time to plant some more.

Scott received extraordinary care from staff at Quiet Oaks Hospice House. They granted every wish he and his family had so he could be comfortable as he traveled his journey to what comes next.  Please consider donating in his name to support them to help the next family go through this time with grace and dignity.

Please share your stories and thoughts for Scott in the Well Wishes section if you like.

Journal entry by Keihly Moore

Thank you to those who came out to Scott’s Memorial at Gooseberry Falls State Park. It was perfect Scott weather: 47 degrees, a brisk wind and a drizzle on the edge of rain. But inside the shelter there was a nice fire, complete with s’mores and a variety of Scott’s favorite foods and friends old and new. Story telling, poem readings, laughter and tears brought us closer to the memory of an old soul who squeezed every moment out of every day.
