Scott’s Story

Site created on May 25, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We know that you all care deeply about Scott's well being and want to be kept informed about his treatment and have a place to learn about ways you might help.  At this time we're looking at extensive medical procedures to address what the oncology team has offered as their best initial strategy for Scott's illness. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Journal entry by Manny Neuzil

Today I woke up feeling as though the day was heavy, ominous, filled with dread. I  realized it was exactly two years ago today that Scott and I headed to the ER because his shoulder pain had worsened and he was experiencing severe back pain. We imagined all manner of treatable possibilities. I’ll never forget the moment the kind ER doctor told us that Scott had cancer. Such a vivid and painful memory of walking back to my car alone that night, knowing that nothing could be the same again. I am forever changed by the loss of him, forever changed by the way he so humbly and thoughtfully navigated those 7 months.

Irene decided to mark the day by getting skunked this morning. I’m pretty sure Scott enjoyed that. Miss him everyday...
