Newest Update

Journal entry by Butler Vin Cole

This is Butler Vin Cole, close family/friend, to the Jeffrey family.  I will be currently helping post updates from Kristie and Adam on Savannah's status at this time.  This is a summary of what the past forty hours have consisted of for the Jeffrey family who we all know and love.  2021.

On Christmas Eve two nights ago what we have always known to be Christmas Eve changed our lives forever in a matter of seconds.  Our family was driving home from celebrating Christmas Eve with our in-laws in Paducah, KY.  As we neared Memphis, TN finding ourselves on Hwy 51 In Millington, a drunk driver was headed directly at our family minivan coming from the opposite direction.  Our mini van had all but one of our five children in it, including Adam and Kristie.  Our oldest Savannah was driving a car behind us with her boyfriend Arnold in the passenger seat.  As Adam swerved to protect our family from the drunk driver, the drunk driver's vehicle hit my daughter's car head on in what very well could have been a fatal collision for all involved.  Savannah's vehicle looked like a crushed tin can and the paramedics informed us that the car Savannah was driving literally saved her life.  Savannah was removed by the 'jaws of life' and rushed by ambulance to the Regional One (The MED) in critical condition.  She is currently stable and should soon be out of her first surgery on her left leg at the time of this post.  Savannah has almost too many injuries to list regarding broken bones, but Savannah miraculously has no major injuries regarding her head, neck, brain, or internal organs.  All of her skin is intact with bruises, scratches, and none of her bone breaks include compound fractures (all breaks are inside her skin).   Savannah is breathing completely on her own, but does have numerous crush injuries.  These injuries include multiple broken bones on all of her extremities.  Both of her ankles are broken.  She has five broken bones in her right foot.  Her right knee dislocated and broke, which is currently having some swelling issues but has not worsened which they are monitoring.  She broke her left leg femur bone which she is currently in her first surgery for repair.  On her right arm she has five broken bones in her right hand and on her left arm she dislocated her elbow and both bones that connect the elbow at the joint.  Her spine is intact involving no major injuries other than some whiplash type pain around her T1 vertebrae.    Savannah's boyfriend Arnold who was the passenger in her car survived the crash with no major physical injuries outside a broken jaw, bruises, and scratches.  He has been discharged and has been at Savannah's side since.  Savannah was awake and responsive at the time of the crash and has been able to wake up sporadically to communicate a little with the medical team as well as her boyfriend and mom Kristie at her bedside since her admission to the hospital.  Savannah is not allowed any outside visitors at this time besides her mom and boyfriend due to general hospital rules and current Covid protocols.  It is heartbreaking that Adam and the kids cannot be inside the hospital at this time.  As you all know, Savannah's family owns Imagine Vegan restaurant in the Cooper Young Area of Memphis.  Several current and old employees are reaching out to plan possible extra support at the restaurant, meal drop offs for the family, company and emotional support for the family, financial support, and help with their other four children.  Many of you know me as Butler and I am beyond blessed to be a part of their family as they adopted me into their lives over the years.  I worked at Imagine Vegan years ago.   I will be assisting Adam and Kristie in updating this website for updates on Savannah as it is very overwhelming for all of us to respond to countless text messages and phone calls.  We appreciate all your love and support that you have  provided thus far.  We are all still in shock and trying to take it one step at a time as we figure out what the Jeffrey family needs at this unthinkable challenging time.  Please be patient with us as we endure this traumatic event.  Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.  If you know Savannah. you know her heart of gold, her tenacious work ethic, her love for her younger siblings,  nurturing spirit, and the mighty love she has for her family and Imagine Vegan where she works and practically grew up.    The first thing Savannah asked at the hospital was, "Are the babies okay?"  (her siblings)  As we figure out what the Jeffrey family needs we will keep you posted and keep you posted as best we can on Savannah's status and progress on this website.  Please feel free to share the link to this website with others as we need all the prayers, warm thoughts, and love we can get right now.  Much Vegan Love and Divine Blessings of gratitude upon each and everyone of you.

Love, The Jeffrey family and Butler (Adam & Kristie's chosen sibling)        ;)
