Sarah’s Story

Site created on September 20, 2018

Hello Everyone. We (Carlos and I) have decided to start this page so that you can follow what is going on with me. As some of you already know, but many of you do not know, I have been diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. It originated in my right breast and has spread to the liver. This was all discovered incidentally as I was seeing doctors for another (unrelated they are saying, a "red herring") condition and, with a CT scan looking into by bladder/kidneys, they discovered the lesions on my liver. This all started in late June of this year so to say this has been a whirlwind is an understatement. I did not get the liver biopsy and positive cancer diagnosis until September 13.

I have had my first appointment with my oncologist at UC Health in Denver and feel very good about my doctor. She is top-notch. We have made a plan on medications to start right away and to get this treatment going. I will hold off on all the confusing and overwhelming details for now and will work on periodical updates on this page that will, hopefully, paint a clearer picture. However, I wanted to get this out there as some people are wondering and many of you will want to know.

I know that everybody wants to help in some way. The thing is, I don't know what I need help with right now. All that I can say I really need is your support, loving and healing thoughts/prayers/energy and, most of all, to hold Harper and Dayla close to your heart. If Carlos or I think of specific ways we could use some help (meals, rides, etc.) we will post it here. Love to everyone. This is the place for info and discussion. If you see me around town, I’d love a warm and friendly hello and to treat things like we always would.

What an amazing day on Friday! So many people to thank and impossible to get everybody, but know your contributions were noticed and meant everything!  I do want to give a special thanks to a few.  Kelly Winner and Jennifer Read for organizing❤️.  Matti Brown with Blackline Entertainment for so graciously donating his time and equipment. You rock both literally and figuratively. 🤘  Dan and Brian with the Brick and Danielle Gutter with Wildflour Sweets for donating the food, beverages, and cookies.🧀🍪  Talley Nichols thanks for stepping up to be the emcee! 🎤A tough job given the circumstances.  So many to thank but I know you didn't do it for the recognition just know that Sarah loves all of you (and so does everyone in her family).
