Sara’s Story

Site created on August 9, 2018

First, thank you for visiting my mom's page. Our family never thought we would have to be writing Sara's journey through breast cancer. As most of you already know, in 2013 Sara had a prophylactic (preventative) mastectomy. The reason for this was due to being positive for the BRCA1 mutation, so therefore she has a much higher chance of getting breast cancer. That journey in itself was emotional and long, but worth it to know that it reduces the risk of developing breast cancer by up to 90+%.

Fast forward to August 2018.  Sara found a lump her in right armpit. After a visit with the doctor and a biopsy, we were told on Friday, August 3rd that my mom has breast cancer. Nobody wants to hear, "You have cancer", and you never think it will be you or your loved ones. The fact is, when someone you love has cancer, the entire family has cancer. We will fight this together, and in the end, come out stronger.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Eliza Freiday-Zimbeck

Hello my friends!

This will be my last update, but I simply wanted to share that today was Sara's last radiation treatment! It went very well, with the only side effect being some "burning" towards her back shoulder.

Sara's hair is growing at a fast rate, and coming back curly!

She feels amazing, due to her holistic care, chiropractor, acupuncturist and of course her amazing team of doctors. In the end, we give all the glory to God.

Thank you for your prayers, your encouragement to our family, and to all whom took time out of their lives to take my mom to appointments. Our family thanks you.

Much love,
Eliza
